What & Why?
Welcome to my little corner of wisdom, where I've gathered the stories, lessons, and practical tips that come with navigating life as a seasoned individual in the Middle East.
When I say "seasoned," I'm talking about those of us who have crossed the 50-year milestone and discovered that life isn't slowing down, it's simply changing direction.
Originally from the UK, I've been living and working in the Middle East since 1992. From arriving as a young mum to building businesses, embracing different cultures, and becoming firmly rooted in this part of the world, it's been quite the adventure.
A few years ago, I realised I needed to take a long, hard look at my health. Through eating well, exercising consistently, and making a conscious decision to look after myself better (without the help of Ozempic, I might add!), I lost a significant amount of weight and discovered something I wasn't expecting: a whole new lease of life.
Today, you'll find me in the gym, out running, practising meditation, and doing things I never imagined I'd be doing in my fifties. I've completed three half marathons, am now training for a marathon, and have even taken on the challenge of learning Arabic.
What surprised me most wasn't the physical transformation, it was the return of something I'd almost forgotten I had: curiosity, energy, and drive.
That's what To Be Aged is all about.
It's about embracing the years behind us while staying excited about the years ahead. It's about proving that age isn't a reason to stop growing, learning, exploring, or reinventing ourselves.
So, whether you're looking for inspiration, practical advice, reassurance, or simply someone who understands this stage of life, you're in the right place.
Here's to ageing well, living fully, and making the most of the years ahead.
